Web Development 101

Wow! Learning how much I don't know is humbling.

It turns out that the direction I was going in learning to do web development wasn't working. So I regrouped and headed off in a new direction.

My son is comfortable working from the Terminal. Me, not so much!  I'm more comfortable working in a text editor like Visual Studio Code. First, of course, I had to get oriented by taking advantage of a couple of YouTubes:
Since I'll eventually be using GitHub for version control and website development, it helps that Visual Studio Code is integrated with GitHub.  Dev World has a playlist of 7 videos: How To Use GitHub With VS Code  that provide guidance.

My next step was getting up to speed on essential web development tools, so I audited a coursera course:
This introduced me to responsive design and Twitter Bootstrap. I'll be reviewing the following tutorials (but right now they are on the back burner):
Through my local public library I have access to LinkedIn Learning and took the following courses:
Eventually I stumbled upon a wonderful resource, W3School, to learn and test myself web development technologies:
By signing onto the W3School website you can track your progress as you plow through the tutorial and quizzes. In addition you can play in a webpage of your own; here's mine: https://duckmarx.w3spaces.com

Speaking of free spaces for you to play in, Wordpress has a free subscription option.  Here is a link to my first post that gives my initial experience of Wordpress.
